Today is so special for me for so many reasons. The most important reason of all is having all of you be an important part of my life AND to have you here to help celebrate my becoming a Bat Mitzvah.
There are people from three countries, 15 states, representing 41 zip codes. Our friends and relatives traveled from:
Long Beach, California
Ann Arbor, Michigan
St. Louis, Missouri
St. Paul, Minnesota
Charlotte, North Carolina
Oak Hill, Virginia
And, of course, from right here in Connecticut
So many people helped my parents put this event together. I'd like to specifically thank just a few of them.
A special thanks to my grandparents; Grandma, Papa, Zadie and Rena, for sponsoring the Kiddush lunch and for all their loving support and advice.
A very, very special thanks to Rena for all her help with the flowers, pumpkin centerpieces, the Noah's Ark, the place cards and the seating and just for being there for so many of the details. She is a professional event planner and I thank her for lending us her expertise.
Also special thanks to my Papa and Grandma who fought with doctors and lots of health problems but never gave up their determination to be here today.
Thanks to my Aunt Carol, my dad's sister, for making the hospitality bags that our out-of-town guests received at the hotel and for delivering them from Boston!.
Thanks to Judy Viv, my mom's sister, and to Cathy Gildesgame for making the spice bags that we used tonight for the Havdalah Service as well as the courtesy baskets in the ladies' room.
And to my sister, Hannah, and our friends, Ephrat and Katrina, for helping me build the Noah's Ark animals in the centerpieces.
Thanks to Maxine Clarke, the Bear-in-Chief at Build-A-Bear Workshop for subsidizing the animals which we are contributing to Kids-in-Crisis where I did my Tikkun Olam project this past summer.
Thanks to our friend Jessica Sheinman for helping my mom put the centerpieces together and for helping to deliver everything to the Shul and hotel.
Finally, I'd like to once again thank my mom, whose loving touch can be seen on every part of this weekend. My dad, who came up with the idea for the Build-A-Bear centerpieces and helped hold my mom together. And especially my sister, Hannah, who mostly graciously put up with all this and who remains my very best friend.
