On December 14, Hannah Singer of New Canaan won the Connecticut State Gymnastics Championship for Level Six 11-year-olds.
Singer came in first in three vents, besting the competition on the balance beam (9.3), the vault (9.25), and the uneven bars (9.05). She was also third in the floor exercise with a 8.65, for an all-around score of 36.25.
The weekend-long meet featured representatives from 14 Connecticut gyms and was held at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. Singer competes with Arena Gymnastics in Stamford and Arena's team came in second, narrowly losing to New England Gymnastics Express from Newington. Arena's Level Four and Level Five teams both took first place.
Singer is a sixth grader at Bi-Cultural Day School in Stamford.

2nd in Level 6 meet
NEW HAVEN - Arena Gymnastics took second place in Sunday's USA Gymnastics Level 6 State Championships at Southern Connecticut State University.
Arena, which placed first in Saturday's Level 5 State Championship, had a final score of 178.15 and finished behind NEGX of Newington which scored a 180.275. Polly's from Stratford came in third with 168.95.
For Arena Hannah Singer of New Canaan won the 11-year-old age group. She was first on vaulting with a 9.25, first on bars (9.05), first on beam (9.3), third on floor (8.65) and fist all-around (35.25).
Kara Capossela of Greenwich also 11 placed second all-around with a 35.25. She also won on floor (9.0), was second on bars (8.85) and third on vaulting (9.0).
Another 11year-old, Megan Kratke of Westport was third all-around with a 35.0. Se was also second on beam (98.9), second on floor (8.7) and third on bars (8.6).
In the 10-year old age group Kiki Litvak of Weston was first all-around with a 36.8, first on beam (9.5), first on floor (9.325) and third on vaulting (9.375).
In the 12-year old age group Catie mahoney of Greenwich was second all-around with a 34.85, second on vaulting (9.15), second on bars (8.7) and fifth on floor (8.8).
Reilly Corbert, 12, of Fairfield finished fourth on bars (8.3).
Arena also won the Level 4 State Championship with a score of 179.95. Children's Studio from Shelton was second with 174.3 and Fairfield County Gymnastics was third with 163.75.
Among Arena's Level 4 standouts were Bailly Gestal 10, of New Canaan, 10-year-old Lauren Kratke of Westport, 10-year-old Angela Wacek of Greenwich and eight-year-old Caroline Fitzpatrick of New Canaan.
